We have gathered here to witness the launching and naming of a new ASTON ship, and I am particularly delighted to attend this grand ceremony. For thousands of years and in many different cultures, this ceremony has been religious in nature, aiming to bring good fortune and safety to the new ship, and its crew. It is my honor to become the godmother of this ship which will carry my name. A ship’s launching is also a time of joy and celebration. On this day, the fruits of many weeks and months of labor of many people finally materialize and become the most sophisticated floating engineering structure. At this point I would like to express our gratitude to our Chinese colleagues, and everyone, for the highest level of organization of the construction of our vessels, and for making this ceremony possible. I name this ship DIANA MARIA. May God bless her, and her crew, on all her voyages".
Addressing to the partners and shipbuilders the Director of procurement of ASTON Company Dmitriy Lysenko said: "Dear companions, friends! We are pleased to be present at such a significant event for our company ASTON. The construction of ships for us is a very important moment in the development of our business. This will help us to effectively build the logistics of delivery of our grain to end customers. The construction of such a high-quality vessel, the first of four in Chinese shipyards, is an excellent indicator of cooperation between China and Russia. Many thanks to our friends and partners for such high-quality and productive cooperation."
